The Kosovo culture ministry, in cooperation with the British embassy, has created an electronic database regarding cultural heritage in Kosovo. The ministry states that this is "a unified and indivisible cultural heritage", while Belgrade points out that the database already exists and that a new one is not needed. "Database for Kosovo cultural heritage" The database will include information on all cultural monuments and the value of various cultural properties in Kosovo. Valton Beqiri, in charge of the ministry in the Kosovo Albanian government in Pristina, told B92 that the intention is to "preserve and promote the cultural heritage of Kosovo and show it as being unified and indivisible at the same time". “A Swedish foundation will implement the project. Experts will work on updating the database, some of which will be Serbs,” Beqiri said. “We have made contact with officials of the Serbian Orthodox Church [SPC] in Kosovo through the projects for reconstructing Orthodox monuments. We would like to communicate in other projects as well, in order for monuments in Kosovo to be presented as truthfully and faithfully as possible,” he said. Beqiri said that the Kosovo government treats all monuments and properties, historical or spiritual, as the "cultural property of Kosovo". He added that monuments of the Serbian Orthodox Church will be surveyed "authentically, as the heritage of the Orthodox Church", as will be done with all Muslim and Catholic monuments. Several SPC monasteries in Kosovo – the Pec Patriarchy, Gracanica, Visoki Decani, Bogorodica Ljeviska, have been on the UNESCO world heritage list and under the organization's protection. The Director of the State Bureau for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, Vera Pavlovic- Loncarski, said that this fact alone is enough to ensure that the monasteries "cannot be treated as Kosovo's, but Serbian heritage". “We already have a database, and I do not see why there should be another one made. A database exists; it is located in the State Bureau. It can be seen on the Bureau’s website,” Pavlovic- Loncarski said. In Pristina, the database, created in three languages, will include data from the municipal bureaus for cultural heritage, the Kosovo culture ministry is saying, and adding that there is a possibility that the database "could include new information and that the ministry is open to cooperation and communication from all sides".
