Munter: Kosovo status solved

U.S. Ambassador to Serbia Cameron Munter says that his country believes the Kosovo status issue "has been solved". "Since that is the fact, we wish to head towards the future," Munter said in Nis on Wednesday, and added that the aim of the United States is a stable Balkans and a strong and prosperous Serbia as a partner. Munter: Kosovo status solved "The United States of America cooperates successfully with Serbian President Boris Tadic and his government,” Tanjug quoted the U.S. diplomat as saying. He also stated that "the two governments disagree over the Kosovo issue". According to Munter, despite this, "the United States is committed to finding a solution that will provide for stability in the Balkans and it is closely cooperating on that with its friends in Serbia". "We do not hide our different opinions, friends may disagree, but we are doing everything to help Serbia on its path to the European Union," Munter said. The U.S. ambassador also said that his country will, "regardless of the outcome of the vote at the UN General Assembly", continue to cooperate on those goals. Munter was in the southern town to attend the signing of an agreement on cooperation on the Municipal Economic Growth Activity (MEGA) program sponsored by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
