EU Foreign and Security Policies Chief Javier Solana said that he supported the formation of the new government, adding that the EU would fully support its efforts to “turn the vision of a European future into a political reality.”

“I am looking forward to close cooperation with Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković and his colleagues,” Solana’s cabinet stated.

“The EU expects the new government to push reforms and fulfill the conditions required for further EU integration. It also expects to work closely with the government in terms of regional stability and development,” the EU official said.

“The EU will support Serbia fully in these efforts,” Solana said, adding that after the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement, the country “is in a good position to progress quickly.”

Meanwhile, American Ambassador to Serbia Cameron Munter has told the Tanjug agency today that he would like to congratulate the people of Serbia on their new government, adding that the U.S. expected productive cooperation with the new leadership.

“The U.S. is ready to cooperate with the democratically elected representatives of Serbia in order to fulfill the aspirations of the Serbian people, and speed up economic development, stability and a prosperous future in Western integrations,” said Munter.
