DSS: Koštunica won't retire from politics
23 June 2008 | 16:51 | Source: Tanjug
BELGRADE -- Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) spokesman Andreja Mladenović says this party will be "strict and principled opposition."

Addressing a news conference in Belgrade on Monday, Mladenović also said that some ranking DSS officials would join the DSS parliamentary club.

He did not say whether DSS President Vojislav Koštunica would be an MP in the new parliament, but stressed that the outgoing prime minister "will not retire".

Speaking about the possibility that the cabinet will be formed by the coalitions led by the Democrats (DS) and Socialists (SPS), Mladenović reiterated reservations which the DSS had already voiced towards such an outcome.

He said that "Serbia will get a government which will be interesting, to say the least", because "it is difficult to determine the interest that brings them together", and added that it is "evident that the strongest connection between the parties is the satisfaction some foreign ambassadors have voiced regarding the establishment of such a government."

Asked if Koštunica made a mistake when he called the May 11 elections, Mladenović said that the DSS had lost trust in its coalition partners, that it would do the same now, and that "it does not have any regrets regarding the calling of elections."
