Jeremić takes diplomatic battle to Brazil

BRAZILIA -- Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić spoke today with Brazilian presidential adviser for foreign affairs Marco Aurelio Garcia.

Today, he is due to meet with his Brazilian opposite number Celso Amorimo, as well as with the presidents of the foreign affairs committees of the Brazilian parliament's lower and upper chambers.

Jeremić said in a statement that he would ask Brazilian officials to confirm their scepticism of recognition of Kosovo’s unilaterally declared independence.

The foreign minister added that it was very important that Brazil, as the region’s key player, confirm its position on Kosovo that has so far reflected Serbia’s own stand.

He said that it was vital that Latin American countries did not start a process of recognition en masse, adding that they were under great pressure to so from other very influential countries.
