Dragan Sutanovac believes that the situation in Kosovo and the whole region is stabilizing after the March 17 riots. “Things are returning to normal both in Kosovo and the entire region,” Sutanovac told reporters at the Duke Zivojin Misic barracks in Valjevo, after the latest batch of recruits had taken their oaths. MoD: Situation in Kosovo returning to normal He said that on March 17, the Defense Ministry had endeavored to stabilize the situation, stressing that KFOR had been asked not to apply excessive force during the riots, where one Ukrainian police officer died and 100 Serbs and UN members were injured. Sutanovac expressed his sadness that there had been casualties, adding that it should be a “big lesson for all those who believed that the problems could be solved through tension.” The minister said that the loss of human life was something that could not be allowed. Accompanying Sutanovac at the oath-taking ceremony, besides relatives, family and friends of the young soldiers, were Lieutenant General Zdravko Ponos and local authority officials.
