Ruecker blames Belgrade for Goraždevac fracas

UNMIK Chief Joachim Ruecker has condemned yesterday’s incident between two groups of Serbs in Gorazdevac. He said that he had been informed that the clashes had been directly instigated by Belgrade. Ruecker blames Belgrade for Gorazdevac fracas “It’s unacceptable, I will be informing the Security Council of it. I have been told that it concerns threats originating directly from Belgrade,” Ruecker told RTV Kosovo, stressing that such behavior was completely unacceptable. Following the incident, the Kosovo Serb National Council has asked the authorities in Serbia and Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac to “take the most concrete measures to protect all Serb people throughout the territory of Serbia.” In a mass fight between Gorazdevac residents and security guards of the UNMIK chief and KFOR Commander Xavier de Marnhac yesterday evening, several Serbs were injured, Pec Municipal Coordinator Radojko Dunic confirmed to Beta in a telephone call. Spokesman for the regional Kosovo police Avni Djevukai said that the police had taken into custody several of those involved in the fight, and that they were still being questioned. “Ruecker’s Serbophobia is nothing new, but today it manifested itself in such a way that testifies to his hatred for Kosovo Orthodox believers, Serbs throughout Serbia, which is the reason why the UN secretary general should immediately withdraw his mandate and call him to account,” read a statement from the Serb National Council. Ruecker blames Belgrade for Goraždevac fracas

“It’s unacceptable, I will be informing the Security Council of it. I have been told that it concerns threats originating directly from Belgrade,” Ruecker told RTV Kosovo, stressing that such behavior was completely unacceptable.

Following the incident, the Kosovo Serb National Council has asked the authorities in Serbia and Defense Minister Dragan Šutanovac to “take the most concrete measures to protect all Serb people throughout the territory of Serbia.”

In a mass fight between Goraždevac residents and security guards of the UNMIK chief and KFOR Commander Xavier de Marnhac yesterday evening, several Serbs were injured, Peć Municipal Coordinator Radojko Dunić confirmed to Beta in a telephone call.
