| Government to discuss Lustration Commission |

In the coming days, the Serbian Government is expected to discuss the proposed Lustration Commission candidates.
With the formation of the commission, the Lustration Law, passed four years ago, will finally begin its implementation.
The question of lustration was brought up by the Liberal-Democratic Party (LDP) and reached its peak at a parliamentary session, when former Yugoslav Left (JUL) member and creator of the October 5-related terrorism law, Zoran Balinovac, acting as the government's envoy, tried to present changes to the Government and State Administration laws in the parliament.
Deputy Prime Minister Božidar Đelić, however, said that discussions regarding lustration between party officials, in the government and parliament, have yet to take place.
“The law is one thing, the other thing is that we have elements that deal with the legislature and many other services. Commonly, when we speak about lustration, we speak about people who have criminally or morally done wrong, and we have a series of laws that can and must be implemented,” Đelić said.
Justice Minister Dušan Petrović said that the Serbian Government will insist on the implementation of all laws, but also remedying all problems encountered in the process.
“We will do everything possible to improve public life in Serbia, for the nation to be healthier than before, that is why we entered the government,” Dušan Petrović said.
The Lustration Law was adopted in 2003, but never implemented, because the commission was left without two members after the 2003 elections and new candidates were never proposed.
In addition, funds from the budget and offices were never given to the commission.
