BELGRADE -- Kosovo’s parliament is set to announce a two-week competition for the selection of a flag design and other symbols.
Kosovo Albanian leaders have said Tuesday they will go ahead with the competition although Kosovo’s statehood is still not a done deal, Zagreb daily Večernji List reports.
The newspaper also says that while Kosovo institutions have since 1999 been using the Albanian national flag, Ahtisaari’s plan for the province’s future status calls for new symbols that will “reflect Kosovo’s multiethnic character”.
Večernji List also notes that while awaiting a new UN resolution, UNMIK is issuing new passports to the residents of Kosovo, although many still use the old ones.
