LJUBLJANA --
Vuk Drašković said that compromise for Kosovo’s status is possible if political will exists within the Contact Group.
Slovenian media have been following closely the visit of Serbia’s Foreign Affairs Minister to the former Yugoslav republic.
State television stations have stressed that Drašković, in talks with Slovenian Premier Janez Jansa and Foreign Affairs Chief Dimitrij Rupel, urged Slovenia to help in looking for a solution of compromise in Kosovo, in which there will be no winners or losers.
“A form of pressure is needed to guide the Albanians in Kosovo towards making steps in the direction of a compromise, because I cannot understand that they are repeating one thing from the start of the discussions, that Kosovo independence is a solution of compromise for them. That is good for satirical and literary purposes, but this is the future of two sets of people we are talking about, the Albanians and the Serbs.” Drašković said.
Rupel said that Slovenia does not support either side, rather, wants a solution that will provide a European perspective for the entire region.
