ISO: Serbia’s codes SP and SRB

BELGRADE -- International Standardization Organization has communicated that Serbia’s country codes can be SP and SRB.

“The ISO Secretary-General has notified Slobodan Vukčević, Serbia’s ambassador to the UN in Geneva, that it regrets the fact the two-letter code RS cannot be accepted and that the codes suggested by the ISO 31 66 Agency are SP and SRB”, Ivan Krstić, director of the Standardization Institute, told Beta.

According to him, the decision was relayed to the ambassador since Serbia’s demand came from its Geneva mission.

The institute has received a copy of the letter, Krstić said.

Several institutions that Beta has contacted could not clarify whether it was now up to the government to declare itself on the ISO decision and proposals.
