EU citizens support Serbia’s association
These statistics show an eight percent rise in the support of Serbia’s integration into the EU in comparison to the same survey conducted six months ago.Greek, Slovenian, Swedish, Danish and Dutch citizens are most supportive of Serbia, while Austrians, Germans, Hungarian and Italians are among the citizens showing the least support, according to the survey, which was conducted in March.
The Serbian Government’s EU Association Office’s Chief Tanja Miščević said that this support for Serbia shown by the EU’s citizens is the result of the fact that the European Commissions has commended Serbia’s progress in the stabilisation and association discussions. She said that Serbia’s readiness to participate in the Kosovo status talks is also being seen as a positive sign, and that its economic progress and increase in tourists from EU countries is also helping Serbia to win some people over.
The survey shows that EU citizens support the integration of Croatia, Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro and finally Albania, as far as Balkans countries are concerned.
