Kosovo to open embassy in Sofia

21 November 2009

Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu said that Priština will soon be opening its diplomatic headquarters in Sofia.

“I have already signed an act for sending a Kosovo ambassador to Bulgaria and I expect that it will soon take effect,” Sejdiu told the Bulgarian national radio station.

He said that the political situation in Kosovo is stable on the whole.

“It is good that we have the support of all our neighbors, Bulgaria included, and other EU member-states and the U.S.,” Sejdiu said, adding that relations between Kosovo and Bulgaria are excellent.

Bulgaria recognized Kosovo’s unilaterally proclaimed independence on March 19, 2008 and has opened its embassy in Priština.
