Health Minister Tomica Milosavljevic said that irresponsible doctors who doubt the effectiveness of the vaccine are “confusing the people.” He said that “all vaccines that have passed European control are good,” adding that “every vaccine against the flu is made with technology that is strictly controlled, cleaned and completely harmonized with the standards which are always high in the pharmaceutics industry.” “Irresponsible doctors confusing people” “A vaccine cannot be made by anyone. It was mentioned that there is mercury in the vaccine. There is as much mercury in it as there is in a can of tuna that you buy to eat,” Milosavljevic told daily Politika. He said that the coming vaccination will be the largest one implemented since the 1972 smallpox outbreak. “This is a different kind of problem, however. The vaccination against the swine flu will be implemented so that a large number of citizens will be vaccinated in a short amount of time without unnecessary crowds. When the vaccine arrives to the Torlak institute, it will be distributed to 23 locations in Serbia. The day after it arrives, the vaccinations will begin,” he said. He advised citizens to be careful and not to buy vaccines that have come to the country from other sources, because there is a great danger of counterfeit vaccines. “They will only be doing more harm this way. The vaccine which we will receive has passed the controls of the European Agency for Medicines, and was tested in the best possible ways,” Milosavljevic said. He said that public transportation drivers and government officials will be vaccinated first, because they are some of the most important groups of people to the functionality of the entire community. “No one has priority between MPs, drivers, pilots, sanitation workers, journalists or police officers. Health workers will also be among the first to be vaccinated, and that is why masks are worn in the hospitals by those caring for people who are most seriously infected. Once they are vaccinated, the masks will not be needed,” Milosavljevic said. Tomica Milosavljevic (Tanjug archive)
