Amnesty International Report 2007

27 May 2007

In its annual human rights report released last week, Amnesty International quotes Serbia’s failure to arrest and transfer indicted suspects to the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (Tribunal), which led to the suspension of talks on a Stabilization and Association Agreement with the European Union (EU).

The report also says low-ranking officials were brought to justice in domestic war crimes trials, while discrimination continued against Romani and other minorities, especially in Kosovo.

The report criticizes Kosovo authorities for continued impunity for war crimes against Serbs and other minorities continued, as well as that granted to the majority of perpetrators of ethnically motivated attacks in the province.
