PM believes his deputy won't "reject" him
BELGRADE -- PM and SPS leader Ivica Dačić has said that he expects "good cooperation" to continue with his first deputy in the cabinet, Aleksandar Vučić.
Speaking in Sarajevo, where he on Friday attended a trilateral regional meeting, Dačić added that he "did not believe that Vučić would use and reject him."
Asked whether there was a chance that Vučić, who heads the country's biggest party, the SNS, might "reject" him as a political partner in the wake of the government reshuffle, Dačić responded:
"I am absolutely not afraid and I do not believe that this is Vučić's desire."
The prime minister then said that both he and Vučić share a common interest in wishing to continue the launched reforms, and add that they "together did much to bring Serbia closer to the EU."
For that reason, Dačić said, "I believe this approach will continue."
"Possible (early) elections would not contribute, at this moment," Dačić stated, and noted that "everyone can count on as much power as they have support among the people."
"I expect good cooperation with Vučić in the future as well," the prime minister concluded.
