Contract on Mobi63 sale signed
Mobi63 has become one of the 13 companies belonging to the Norwegian telecommunications group, including regional networks such as Hungarian Panon and Montenegrin Promonte. Thygesen took part in a B92 program and said that the Telenor quality of service will be available to the users in Serbia as early as next year. “Our basic philosophy is to have good reception in all the areas of the country, good quality of service, to offer new and innovative services and we will make this available for our users in Serbia. The prices are important, naturally, therefore our packages will be competitive, but we are not certain about the exact numbers right now. We will see what the market and the competition will look like in the future”, Thygesen told B92.Mlađan Dinkić said all the money obtained from the sale of the company formerly known as Mobtel will be used for investments. In his words all the Serbian citizens will benefit through economic growth, increased employment and Serbia’s fast development. “The € 320 million income does not fall under taxation and is income obtained from the sale of the second license. The rest of the money will be divided in the following manner: 30 per cent goes to the Austrian consortium, 70 per cent to the budget. The budget is therefore increased by € 1,155 million”, Dinkić explained.
Public Company PTT Srbija is entitled to gain € 100 million for buying off Mobtel’s debt, while the National investment plan will invest € 339 million in Serbian transport infrastructure in the next year and a half. Capital investments minister Velimir Ilić announced that some of the major problems related to that area will be solved immediately. “We will start with the preparation of the documentation necessary for the reconstruction of the Pančevački bridge in two weeks. The reconstruction will be conducted in two phases. The city of Belgrade will fund the project, and the first phase will be funded with the money we have already secured for this year. We go to work immediately, but the bridge will be open to traffic only after the bridge at Vrčin is functional, and the traffic redirected there”, Ilić said.

Mobilkom Austria wants to become the third operator
The Vienna daily Der Standard reports that the general manager of Mobilkom Austria announced plans to enter the Serbian market within two months. The general manager of Mobilkom Austria Boris Nemsic announced it plans to enter the Serbian market within two months. It will do so by acquiring a licence for the third wireless operator, which will cost at least EUR 320 million.
Nemsic said that due to the signing of the Serbo-Austrian company “Mobi 63”, which was sold Monday, the third wireless licence in Serbia will cost at least EUR 320 million if granted within the next two years.
After the auction for “Mobi 63”, which was sold to Norwegian Telenor for EUR 1.514 billion, Nemsic explained that Mobilkom gave up from further competition because, in his opinion, the price above EUR 1.5 billion for Mobi 63 is unjustified. He believes that the agreed price of EUR 1.513 billion is the highest possible at this moment and a good one for the citizens of Serbia and the country itself.
