Water level of Danube rises again

Water surface defence administrator for the Danube, Mirko Galonja, told B92 that the new waves will reach their highest levels within the next two to three days.

“Near Bezdan we will have a total increase in water level from 500 to 572 centimetres, and near Novi Sad the increase could be up to 35 centimetres and maximum water levels would reach Novi Sad on May 7.” Galonja said.

He added that these short-term waves of higher water levels will not cause any serious damage and that the levels would continue to decrease in a short amount of time.

The water levels on the Tisa River are in decline and if these tendencies continue, the situation will no longer be critical within the next seven days, Galonja said.
