Slovenian president urges dialogue with Croatia

Drnovsek was cited by the Slovenian news agency STA as saying that the governments of both countries needed to resolve all their outstanding issues. An escalation would lead to "nowhere."

Among the problems, he cited long-standing dispute about the border demarcation and the issue of citizen's bank savings accounts which have been frozen since the breakup of the former Yugoslavia in 1991.

Drnovsek in his remarks rejected calls by Slovenian nationalists to call a boycott against Croatian tourism destinations, STA said.
