The court also confirmed previous acquittals of his son Marko Miskovic, and businessman Milo Djuraskovic on the first charge, while they will also be tried again for tax evasion.

Miskovic, the owner of Delta Holding, was sentenced in June 2016 to five years in prison in a first-instance verdict of the Special Court, when he was also ordered to pay a RSD 8 million (EUR 67,000) fine for aiding his son in evading about three million euros in taxes.

By the same decision, Miroslav Miskovic was acquitted of the charges that he siphoned money off several road companies.

All decisions of the Court of Appeals announced today have been adopted unanimously.

In the first instance ruling, Marko Miskovic was sentenced to three and a half years in prison for tax evasion and ordered to pay a fine of RSD 8 million, while his company Mera Ivest had to pay taxes worth about RSD 320 million (EUR 2.6 million).

The Appellate Court explained its decision on Wednesday by saying that the first-instance verdict contained substantial violations of criminal procedures, because the ruling's reasoning did not state the decisive facts - while the reasons given had been "substantially vague and contradictory."
