After the announced opening of the Balkan's biggest shopping mall in November, Delta Holding has set its sights even higher. One of Serbia's largest companies says it has scheduled the start of construction works on a new shopping center in Belgrade for late spring 2008. Delta continues building huge malls The company's investment fund Delta Invest director, Dragan Budjevac, told Beta Sunday the center will spread on 320,000 sq meters, and will cost EUR 300mn to build. The shopping complex will be located in Belgrade's Autokomanda, and will consist of a mall sized 220,000 sq meters and two twin towers of 100,000 sq meters both. The construction of the first and largest storey will take from two to two and a half years to finish, Budjevac told the agency, while the building of the towers will not start before 2010. Once completed, the center will be the Balkan's biggest shopping mall, he added. Delta will open its Delta City 67 center in New Belgrade on November 2, while it plans to build two additional malls in the Serbian capital. It is unclear how the company's plans will reflect on its position in the market, already controversial with regards to its alleged monopoly in the retail sector.
