Gorenje factory in Valjevo opens

17 October 2006 | 10:13 | Source: B92
VALJEVO -- The Slovenian Gorenje factory has opened a new factory of refrigeration appliances in Valjevo.

Gorenje is one of the leading European companies in home appliances.

The Gorenje factory in Valjevo is worth 20 million euros and was constructed six months ago. The first refrigerator was produced in the factory a month ago, and the factory plans to produce 50,000 more by the end of the year and 400,000 appliances next year.

Currently there are 170 employees in the factory and the number is expected to increase by the end of the year.

Administrative President of Gorenje Franjo Bobinac said at the opening, that even though they received signals that the Serbian market is risky, they decided on Valjevo.

“We believe that this is a good region for investments, with good communication and a quality workforce.” Franjo Bobinac said.

Serbian Foreign Economic Relations Minister Milan Parivodić said that Serbia will be the leader in 2006, of countries in the Balkans with the largest amount of direct foreign investments, with more than 3.5 billion dollars worth.

“The key information which is being sent to the world today is that your production in Serbia is 15 percent cheaper than in any other factories you have. That is an important message which Serbia wants to send to the world, that this is a productive nation in which you can work very economically and develop your business faster, perhaps, than in other regions.” Parivodić said.

Finance Minister Mlađan Dinkić promised customs relaxations and bonuses for Gorenje for every new employee the company hires.
