At a press conference, Stefanovic specified that Operation Ares was aimed at combating crime, primarily narcotics trafficking, and that it was carried out based on several months of investigations in the territory of 27 municipalities and cities of Serbia.

Stefanovic said that those arrested are suspected of committing various crimes, including, among other things, unauthorized manufacturing and trafficking of narcotics, attempted murder, rape, unlawful sexual acts, exploitation of minors for pornography, abuse and torture, extortion, kidnapping, robbery, serious theft and other crimes.

360 have been arrested, while criminal charges under regular proceedings have been filed against another 202 people, which, as he said, means that a total of 562 persons have been "processed."
