The chief prosecutor of the special court for KLA ("Kosovo Liberation Army" war crimes has "underlined his independence," a statement from his office said.

KLA court prosecutor pledges to work "without fear or favor"

Schwendiman "stressed that he will be guided in the discharge of his mandate only by the facts and the law and will do his work without fear or favor."

He also "committed to lead a process that is legitimate and perceived as legitimate by all those affected by the work of the prosecutor’s office."

Schwendiman met with Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic, Minister of Justice Nela Kuburovic, and Minister of Defense Zoran Djordjevic, and with representatives of the Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor’s Office and with members of the diplomatic community in Belgrade.

"The specialist prosecutor thanked his interlocutors for their continued support for his investigative efforts, and reconfirmed their commitment to seeing this process through. He did not discuss any details related to the substance of the investigation," his office said.
