The minister told the RTS that the arrest took place late Tuesday and that the police operation, which lasted several months, was carried out by the Novi Sad police in collaboration with the Gendarmerie.

"At the time of the arrest, we seized two machine guns, a little over three kilograms of explosives, two automatic rifles and a large quantity of ammunition in a car," Stefanovic said.

Since the region has been exposed to large quantities of illegal weapons and ammunition since the 1990s, I think that this is a significant message to citizens not to use illegal weapons as that carries severe prison sentences, he noted.
