"Islamic extremists finance education in Kosovo"

This is what the Pristina-based Albanian language daily Koha Ditore writes, quoting "a report of a foreign intelligence service."

The article headlined, "Investments of Islamic extremists in education in Kosovo," adds that the report states this is taking place "with the consent of Kosovo's institutions."

The intelligence report quoted by the paper speaks about the activities of 50 NGOs and 11 persons "involved the most in spreading religious Islamic extremism."

This document also reportedly describes Kosovo as "the cradle of religious influence starting in preschool institutions," and mentions the "Lulishtja e Dritave" kindergarten as one of them.

Its owner is Driton Maxhuni, "who has strong connections with Hasan Abazin, one of the leaders of the 7th Mujahideen Brigade in Bosnia."

Head of the kindergarten's finances is Hassan Ali Al Sarraj, "originally from Iraq."

The kindergartens, schools, and student dorms "that have ties with terrorist organizations" all have licenses to operate issued by the Kosovo Ministry of Education. The "Lulishtja e Dritave" kindergarten has had a license since 2006, writes the daily.

The article adds, quoting the intelligence report "based on many sources," that many organizations and NGO "installed" in Kosovo after the 1999 war, such as Al-Haramaini and IWC, have in the meantime been "removed" from there - but that they formed and left behind a number of NGOs.

The report adds that "many imams and individuals" are connected with these organizations.
