Man robs bank, escapes on bicycle

An unknown perpetrator on Monday morning robbed a bank in Belgrade and then used his bicycle to flee the scene before the police arrived.

Man robs bank, escapes on bicycle

According to the daily Blic, he threatened the bank's staff with a pistol and was handed over RSD 2 million, EUR 23,000, and USD 2,000 in cash.

Eyewitnesses said that he arrived to the bank on a bicycle, "armed, and with a balaclava on his head."

Although he threatened to take the staff hostage after realizing they had alerted the police, the thief decided to escape before the officers arrived.

The police said they launched an intensive search for the suspect.
