EULEX has arrested a retired colonel of the MUP of Serbia and a former chief of police in Kosovska Mitrovica, Dragoljub Delibašić.

Former chief of police in K. Mitrovica arrested

In a statement to Tanjug, Vasić said that, on his advice, Vasić exercised his right to silence as that is in his best interest in this phase of the criminal proceedings.

The lawyer added that, in the next 24 hours, the prosecution will decide whether to propose that Delibašić be put in custody, as he appeared before the special war crimes prosecution in Priština on Wednesday.

Delibašić is suspected of having committed several grave crimes in 1999-2000, punishable by ten years to life in prison.

He was arrested on the order of a EULEX prosecutor with the Special Prosecution Office in Kosovo, after he voluntarily presented himself in a police station in Lešak in northern Kosovo and Metohija on Tuesday evening.

Reprots earlier in the day said that leader of Civic Initiative SDP Oliver Ivanović is a suspect in the same case.

Ivanović was arrested on January 28 and placed in one-month detention. After his lawyer filed an appeal, the detention order was confirmed on Tuesday by the Appellate Court in Priština.
