BELGRADE There is “certain information” that lead to a conclusion that the investigation into the murder of the Serbs in Pec in 1998 was not conducted professionally. Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said this on Monday. "Investigation maybe wasn’t conducted professionally" “All I can say is that we are working on it,” Vucic said to the reporters while speaking about the crime that has been a topic of many discussions in Serbia for the last couple of weeks. Six young men of the Serbian nationality were killed in Panda cafe in Pec back in 1998 and it was believed for years that the ethnic Albanian extremists were responsible for that. Over the last couple of weeks, however, speculations were spreading that the background of this case is even darker, that the Serbian state security service or a foreign intelligence might be behind it. Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, on the other hand, said that the government certainly would not hide information about this crime. “Wherever information are, we will not hide them, but it is very early to speak about conclusions,” Dacic said to RTV B92. Claims that then state security service, or someone from the police was behind that attack, which appear in media, could have “huge political consequences”, so one should avoid giving such statements, he said.
