BELGRADE Miroslav Miskovic has been summoned to the police as a citizen to make a statement about the alleged links of his companies to those owned by Darko Saric. Saric is a fugitive suspected of heading a drug clan responsible for an attempt to smuggle several tons of cocaine from South America to Europe. Delta Holding owner questioned about Saric Miskovic, owner of Serbia's largest privately-held company, Delta Holding, gave his statement for two hours on Thursday. He previously never commented on the media reports that he maintained business ties with Darko Saric. Nevertheless, the police reportedly suspect that Miskovic laundered millions of euros of Saric's money via his companies. B92 has unofficially learned that Miskovic would be asked to explain to the police today the hard currency transactions that took place between East Europe Investment Fund and the Cypriot company Great Investment Corporation. It is suspected that he and Financial Angels are behind these companies - while Darko Saric is believed to be behind the latter. Unofficially, the authorities suspect that Miskovic's companies transferred about EUR 5.5 million to Saric's company, "for consulting services." However, Delta Holding reacted by denying any connection between the company, its employees, and its owner and members of his family "with the incriminated persons" Stanko Subotic in 2010 spoke about these alleged ties for B92, when he said that "it was known that the brothers Saric are friends of Marko Miskovic, the son of the Delta owner." Late last year, Novi Magazin reported that the police were trying to prove that Miskovic's companies, especially those that Marko Miskovic was behind, had a business relationship with the Saric clan. Miskovic, his son, and several others have been indicted in a separate case, where they are accused of financial abuses in road construction companies. A preliminary hearing in that case was held earlier this week. Both Miroslav and Marko Miskovic were arrested and spent several months in prison before they were released on bail.
