Assistant to former minister arrested in corruption case

BELGRADE The police on Wednesday arrested Nebojsa Janjic, who served as assistant to former Environment Minister Oliver Dulic. MB Gas Oil company Mile Brezancic was also arrested. Both are held on suspicion that they abused their official position, Tanjug said it learned from the Police Directorate. B92 learned that the police suspect Janjic from 2009 until 2010 twice received "money gifts" from Brezancic in the total amount of EUR 152,000, and in return provided MB Gas Oil with building and urban planning permits. Janjic was also an advisor to the mayor of Subotica. He was a member of the municipal council and assistant director for investments in the town's Construction Directorate. From October 2012 until April 2013, Janjic served as assistant to Subotica Mayor Modest Dulic, the brother of Oliver Dulic. Janjic was arrested previously in October 2012 as part of the case investigating the former minister, and director of the public company Putevi Srbije Zoran Drobnjak. The case concerns permits given to the Slovenian company Nuba Invest for instalment of optical cables. However, Janjic was released immediately pending trial. (Beta, file) B92 Tanjug
