13 injured in "mass fight" that spanned two days

Two persons received serious injuries while 11 others were lightly hurt in a fight that broke out "between members of two families" in the southern town of Niš.

The local police said that the incident "started on Monday evening and resumed around noon on Tuesday," and that it took place in the Crvena Zvezda neighborhood.

Eight people have been detained in connection to the disturbance, said the police.

They have been identified as Tahir A., Trajko A., Šaban A., Nama K., Arslan M., Srđan M. and Zorica M.

The seven have been charged with taking part in a fight, while Danijel H. is suspected of inflicting grievous bodily harm.

The police statement explained that all suspects will be taken to an investigative judge for questioning.

The police, in cooperation with the Organized Crime Prosecution, on Wednesday arrested the director of the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade, Mirjana Menkovic.
