The suspects "battered the officer and shot at him," said some reports, while others noted that the robbers took his gun and shot at him, but missed. The shooting took place some 100 meters from a kindergarten. The town's emergency medical services told journalists earlier in the day that the policeman was beaten and that he sustained "serious injuries to his stomach and head."
