BELGRADE 724 tons of corn and 38 tons of wheat have been seized from Agroomega, a company based in Zabalj, northern Serbia. As checks were being carried out into the country's commodity reserves were, it was discovered that the company did not have the necessary documentation on the purchase of the grain. 762 tons of corn and wheat seized from company The Serbian Tax Administration said that the Market Inspection found out about the irregularities and then informed them about their findings. Trade Minister Rasim Ljajic said recently that the theft of corn and wheat from Commodity Reserves had incurred damages of some EUR 20 million to the state. Preliminary results show that out of 77 silos, seven either have no goods or are missing large quantities of mercantile corn and wheat. Irregularities related to storage procedures were reported from two more silos. Ljajic told the Blic newspaper on Thursday that owners of the silos from which a total of 80,000 tons of grain is missing were "given a month to replace the missing quantities."
