Organ trade investigation to be completed in 2014

BELGRADE Head of the EULEX special team John Clint Williamson has told PM Ivica Dacic that a probe into organ trade in Kosovo will be finished next year. Dacic stressed that the investigation was extremely important and that the EULEX special team had full support of the Serbian government, War Crimes Prosecution and the Interior Ministry. Williamson assessed that good cooperation with Serbia’s War Crimes Prosecution and Interior Ministry was important for the success of the investigation, Serbian government’s Media Office has released. “More than 100 witnesses have been interviewed so far and we expect the investigation to be finished next year,” he stressed. The probe concerns allegations that ethnic Albanian Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA;UCK) in 1999 and 2000 kidnapped Serb and other civilians in Kosovo, illegally imprisoned them in northern Albania, to then sell their body parts in the international black market for human organs.
