BRUSSELS EU Enlargement Commissioner Stefan Fule has welcomed Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina's Protocol on cooperation and exchange of information in war crime cases. The protocol was signed by Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic and Bosnia-Herzegovina's Deputy Chief Prosecutor Jadranka Lokmic-Misiraca in Brussels on Thursday. Fule welcomes Serbia-Bosnia protocol on cooperation “The signing of the protocol between Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbia on sharing war crimes info and evidences is a major step in strengthening regional cooperation,” Fule wrote on his Twitter account on Thursday. Hague Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz also welcomed the signing of the protocol on Thursday, pointing to the importance of strengthening local prosecutor's offices at the time when the Tribunal's nears the end of its mandate. Head of the OSCE Mission to Serbia Peter Burkhard welcomed on Thursday the signing of the protocol as a very important step and encouraging sign of further expansion of regional cooperation in the prosecution of war criminals "Bringing those responsible for war crimes to justice is fundamental to the reconciliation in the region and a key element of the rule of law,” said Burkhard. “This agreement shows the commitment of Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina to eliminating impunity and ensuring accountability for serious war crimes, and to developing their good neighboring relations,” he added. The protocol on cooperation will facilitate information and evidence sharing and better coordination of activities between the prosecution authorities of the two countries. The contract was signed by Vukcevic and Lokmic-Misiraca at the European Commission headquarters. The ceremony also brought together, Director for the Western Balkans in the European Commission Directorate General for Enlargement, Pierre Mirel and Brammertz were also present during the signing of the document.
