VRANJE The Serbian Customs have announced that more than 21 kilograms of heroin was seized on Thursday night at the Presevo border crossing. Acting Higher Public Prosecutor in Vranje Zorin Zogovic told B92 that the drugs were found in 39 packages hidden in a spare tire of a Turkish license plates SUV. 21 kilos of heroin seized on crossing with Macedonia The vehicle was driven by a Turkish citizen, identified as Ali Kalic. The suspect works and lives in Germany. He has been placed in 48-hour police detention, and will be brought before a judge in Vranje. The police, meantime, said they would continue to investigate the background of the trafficking operation. According to the prosecutor, the illegal market value of the seized drugs is about half a million euros. If put on trial and found guilty, the Turk could face from three to 12 years in jail.
