KRAGUJEVAC, NOVI SAD The police in Kragujevac, central Serbia, on Monday detained managers of the local football club, Radnicki 1923, leaders of local parties, and a bookkeeper. Vice President of Radnicki and Vice-President of Together for Sumadija Nebojsa Vasiljevic, Radnicki Secretary-General Danko Stojanovic and FIFA agent Zoran Pavlovic have been arrested, all charged with abuse of office. Police make arrests in new corruption cases They are believed to have defrauded the football club of some EUR 500,000 during the transfer of footballer Filip Kostic. In a second police operation, head of the Zajedno za Kragujavac party Zlatko Milic and bookkeeping agency owner Zarko Biorac were also detained. They are suspected of incurring damages worth some EUR 185,000 to the political organization. Meanwhile in the towns of Novi Sad and Sombor 12 persons were placed under arrest suspected of abuse of office, money laundering and tax evasion. Their illegal activities "while buying and selling recycled materials" are believed to have incurred damages of some EUR 4mn to the Serbian state budget, according to early reports. B92 RTS
