Former minister arrested for abuse of office

BELGRADE Former Agriculture Minister Sasa Dragin, CES Mecon owner Zvonimir Nikezic and another seven persons were arrested on Saturday on suspicion of abuse of office. The suspects are charged with abuse of office, illegal sale of mineral fertilizers and incurring damages worth EUR 4.5mn to the state budget. All the suspects have been remanded in custody for 48 hours, according to Organized Crime Prosecutor Miljko Radisavljevic. The questioning of all nine suspects is currently underway in Belgrade. Former Pančevo nitrogen plant Board of Directors President Radosav Vujačić, former Pančevo nitrogen plant Deputy Director Mihajlo Grujić, former PKB Corporation Director Milan Veljović, former Aleksa Šantić agricultural company director Arsenije Katanić, former Kruševac Fodder Institute Director Dragi Lazarević, Terabo company owner and former Invej company Director Verica Spasić were also arrested.

All the suspects have been remanded in custody for 48 hours, according to Organized Crime Prosecutor Miljko Radisavljević.

The questioning of all nine suspects is currently underway in Belgrade.
