BELGRADE Former Agriculture Minister Sasa Dragin, CES Mecon owner Zvonimir Nikezic and another seven persons were arrested on Saturday on suspicion of abuse of office. The suspects are charged with abuse of office, illegal sale of mineral fertilizers and incurring damages worth EUR 4.5mn to the state budget. Former minister arrested for abuse of office Former Pancevo nitrogen plant Board of Directors President Radosav Vujacic, former Pancevo nitrogen plant Deputy Director Mihajlo Grujic, former PKB Corporation Director Milan Veljovic, former Aleksa Santic agricultural company director Arsenije Katanic, former Krusevac Fodder Institute Director Dragi Lazarevic, Terabo company owner and former Invej company Director Verica Spasic were also arrested. All the suspects have been remanded in custody for 48 hours, according to Organized Crime Prosecutor Miljko Radisavljevic. The questioning of all nine suspects is currently underway in Belgrade. Dragin was a deputy secretary for agriculture, water management and forestry in the Vojvodina Executive Board from 2004 until 2007. Former Pančevo nitrogen plant Board of Directors President Radosav Vujačić, former Pančevo nitrogen plant Deputy Director Mihajlo Grujić, former PKB Corporation Director Milan Veljović, former Aleksa Šantić agricultural company director Arsenije Katanić, former Kruševac Fodder Institute Director Dragi Lazarević, Terabo company owner and former Invej company Director Verica Spasić were also arrested.

All the suspects have been remanded in custody for 48 hours, according to Organized Crime Prosecutor Miljko Radisavljević.

The questioning of all nine suspects is currently underway in Belgrade.
