BELGRADE Agriculture Minister Goran Knezevic has announced that he will not sue the state over spending 13 months in custody. “I will not sue my state of Serbia because it is not citizens’ fault that the Democratic Party (DS) was an arrogant and corrupt authority, whose only aim was to destroy the society and discredit people who truly wanted Serbia to make progress,” he said in a statement. Minster will not sue state over 13 months in custody The minister added in the statement that he “spent 13 months in custody, suffered the worst public insults, slander and humiliation for no reason other that I stood in a way of some former regime’s strongmen,” Knezevic added. He pointed out that he did not want to talk about the “anguish and suffering” his family, especially his children, had gone through. “Let the hell my family, friends and I went through, and later the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) as well, in which I have been truly working hard, be just a horrible memory of the time that must never again return to Serbia,” the minister said commenting on speculations that he would sue the state and request damages worth EUR 100,000.
