BELGRADE The Serbian police have the mayor of the town of Nova Crnja in custody, along with a co-owner of a company based in the town of Kikinda, northern Serbia. The two men - identified as Pera Milankov and Ljubisa Kovacevic, respectively - were arrested late on Thursday on corruption charges. Mayor, local businessman arrested as money changes hands Mayor Milankov and the Metkom company co-owner have been arrested, Serbian Police Director Milorad Veljovic confirmed for the public broadcaster RTS. The arrest took place last night "while RSD 200,000 was being exchanged" between the two suspects, it has been announced. The authorities suspect that Metkom - which was contracted to do a majority of infrastructure works in Nova Crnja - managed to secure those jobs through rigged tenders. Tanjug
