ISTOK Istok Mayor Dragoljub Repanovic says a group of Kosovo Albanians used weapons while trying to steal timber in a wood owned by a Serb, leaving no one injured. The incident did not result in any injuries, the mayor explained. Ethnic Albanian timber thieves open fire on Serbs Repanovic told Tanjug that owner of the forest Milan Ostojic from Osojane heard the sounds of trees being cut around 21:15 CET on Sunday evening, went in that direction, and found a group of Albanians at the scene. After a verbal dispute, one of the thieves moved away from Ostojc and fired a shoot, Repanovic said, adding that fortunately no one was injured, while the case was reported to police. In the last 24 hours, this is the second incident in Kosovo and Metohija, after unidentified attackers opened fire on six Serbs who were cutting trees in their own forest on Sunday, injuring no one. Timber theft is common in this part of Kosovo in the last few years, and the thieves do not avoid using weapons in an attempt to seize timber owned by Kosovo Serbs. Illegal felling of trees is also common along and across the administrative line between Kosovo and central Serbia, where thieves recently opened fire on a Serbian police patrol. Tanjug

In the last 24 hours, this is the second incident in Kosovo and Metohija, after unidentified attackers opened fire on six Serbs who were cutting trees in their own forest on Sunday, injuring no one.

Timber theft is common in this part of Kosovo in the last few years, and the thieves do not avoid using weapons in an attempt to seize timber owned by Kosovo Serbs.
