PRIZREN Unknown persons fired at a EULEX vehicle in Zubin Potok in northern Kosovo on Friday morning. Serbian government’s Office for Kosovo Director Aleksandar Vulin, who is visiting the province, has condemned the attack. A Kosovo police officer was lightly inured in the incident when shots were fired at the EULEX and KPS cars. Kosovo police Deputy Regional Director Ergin Medic told Beta news agency that the officer had been hurt by a broken glass and added that the investigation was underway. Vulin strongly condemned the attack on behalf of the Serbian government. He called on representatives of the international community to bring the perpetrators to justice as soon as possible. The Office for Kosovo director stressed that Serbia was ready to provide any kind of help to the international community in finding the perpetrators. Kosovska Mitrovica District Head Radenko Nedeljkovi and Zubin Potok Mayor Slavisa Ristic condemned the incident as an act of vandalism and cowardice which aims to jeopardize the survival of Serbs in Kosovo. They agreed that the “attack on the vehicles of the Kosovo police and EULEX is a clear confirmation that the actions are coordinated so as to cause destabilization in the northern part of the province (where the Serbian majority does not accept the unilaterally declared independence of ethnic Albanians) and thus make it easier to integrate the northern parts into the Kosovo system”. In a joint statement for Tanjug, Nedeljkovic and Ristic noted that they expected the security services to carry out a comprehensive investigation and bring offenders to justice. They called on citizens not to react to such provocations and instead to try and contribute to closing of the cases of grave crimes. Beta Tanjug
