Three killed, eight wounded in Vojvodina cafe blast

Three persons were killed and eight were injured in a blast at a cafe in the village of Idvor near the town of Kovačica in Vojvodina around 2:30 CET on Sunday.

Pančevo police Spokesman Novica Antonić told Tanjug that the injured were taken to hospitals in Zrenjanin and Pačevo and to the Belgrade Emergency Center, adding that the extent of their injuries was still unknown.

According to initial information, there were around 150 people in the cafe when the bomb went off.

Antonić noted that the police were at the scene and that they were trying to determine the motive that had led to the tragedy.

Radio Television of Serbia (RTS) has reported that the person who activated the bomb was also killed.

According to RTS, the tragedy happened when the cafe security tried to stop four men from the nearby village of Sefkerin from going in.

After a fight with the security, 34-year-old S.B. activated a hand grenade. His brother I.B. tried to stop him but he failed and both of them were killed. The identity of the third person who died in the blast is still unknown.
