Court reduces sentence for football fan’s murder

The Court of Appeals in Belgrade has reduced the sentence to one and acquitted three hooligans who were convicted of murder of a Voždovac FC fan in 2005.

The Court of Appeals in Belgrade has reduced the sentence to one and acquitted three hooligans who were convicted of murder of a Vozdovac FC fan in 2005. The Court of Appeals has determined that 15 years in prison would be enough to discourage the defendant, who was originally sentenced to 30 years in prison, from committing the same or similar crimes in the future. Bojan Horvatin, Aleksandar Kovacevic, Goran Pantelic and Aleksandar Pavlovic entered a train carrying Vozdovac FC fans armed with knives, bars and rocks. They attacked them and Horvatin stabbed one of them to death and injured the other. Horvatin was initially sentenced to 30 years, Kovacevic to eight years and 11 months and Pantelic and Pavlovic to a year in prison. B92

The other three hooligans were acquitted due to statute of limitations.
