Trial of ex-KLA to begin on Friday

Fatmir Limaj, accused of committing war crimes in the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) prison camp in the village of Klecka, will go on trial on Friday. This was announced by EULEX on Wednesday, according to Tanjug news agency. Trial of ex-KLA to begin on Friday The ethnic Albanian, who after the 1999 war held the position of minister in the government in Pristina, will face trial at the Pristina District Court. Limaj was the commander of the KLA Kumanovo unit at the time the crimes were committed. EULEX confirmed the indictment on July 25. EULEX prosecutor from the Kosovo Special Prosecutor's Office filed the charges. Limaj has already been tried for war crimes,by the Hague Tribunal. He was acquitted because of a lack of evidence. Nine other former KLA members will also stand trial together with Limaj. They are accused of murdering kidnapped civilians and soldiers of the former Yugoslav Army (VJ).
