FBI in Belgrade to probe Sarajevo embassy case

U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) representatives investigating the terrorist attack on the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo have arrived in Belgrade. Mevlid Jasarevic, an ethnic Muslim (Bosniak) from Serbia's southwestern Sandzak region, fired shots at the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo last Friday. The FBI operatives should after the meeting go to Novi Pazar, Jasarevic’s hometown, in order to gather as much information about the last week’s attack as possible. Several people were injured in the attack in Sarajevo, including Jasarevic who was shot by the police. The suspect, believed to be a member of the radical Islamic Wahhabi movement, was remanded in custody for 30 days. An investigation against Wahhabis and search of their homes in Bosnia-Herzegovina has started in the meantime. According to media, FBI and other foreign services are involved in the investigation.
