The Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor's Office stated on Monday that one of the suspects for the war crime in the village of Cuska was arrested. Ranko Momic, a member of a paramilitary group called Sakali (Jackals), was arrested in Montenegro on suspicion that he took part in the murder of 44 ethnic Albanian civilians, said reports. Ex-paramilitary arrested in Montengro Momic, who is charged with murdering 44 ethic Albanian civilians, was arrested on January 15, 2011 upon a warrant issued by Serbian War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic. He is expected to be extradited based on the extradition agreement signed between Montenegro and Serbia on October 29, 2010. The prosecution claims, in its indictment against Toplica Miladonovic and eight other former members of the paramilitary unit, that Momic in May 1999 took part in the murder of Haki and Selim Gashi and "group murder" of 11 other civilians, and that he lead a group that was setting houses on fire and forcing families out of the village. The indictment against him also says that Momic robbed the victims of money, vehicles, golden jewelry and watches and that he expelled the surviving villagers with the goal of moving them to Albania.
