The War Crimes Prosecution will no longer be prosecuting one suspect accused in the Suva Reka war crimes case of 1999. One of the eight suspects, Ramiz Papic, has been freed of the charges, which include the murder of 48 ethnic Albanian civilians in Kosovo. Suva Reka: Prosecution drops charges against defendant The seven remaining suspects in the case of the murder of the Albanian civilians are former Serbian police officers Radoslav Mitrovic, Radojko Repanovic, Nenad Jovanovic, Milorad Nisavic, Miroslav, Zoran Petkovic, and Sladjan Cukaric. They are accused of killing 48 Albanian civilians, mostly women, children and elderly, in Suva Reka during a conflict with the KLA in March 1999. Most of the civilians were members of the Berisha family. Earlier in the day, Trial Chamber President Judge Vinka Beraha said that the presentation of evidence against the suspects was finished, followed by Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Mioljub Vitorovic's announcement that he will make final changes to the indictments. He decided to exclude Papic from further prosecution. The defense called on the trial to be postponed so that its attorneys could analyze the altered indictment, which they say has been “significantly changed” and that the crimes are described differently in the new charges. The trial chamber accepted the request and scheduled the continuation of the trial for April 6.
