Police arrest third suspect in handballer's murder

The third suspect in the murder of a Romanian handball player and wounding of his Serbian colleague in Veszprem turned himself in to police last night. Ivan Sztojka went to the police in Veszprem with a lawyer, after which he was placed in custody and questioned. Romanian MKB handball player Marian Cozma was killed and Serbian Zarko Sesum and Croatian Ivan Pesic were seriously injured during the altercation. Sandor Raffael and Gyozo Nemeth were arrested in Austria, while attempting to abscond to Italy by car, while Sztojka went to ground in Hungary. Police immediately offered a EUR 3,000 reward to anyone with valid information about his movements or whereabouts, and shortly after, doubled that figure. A team of five inspectors was specially formed to find Sztojka. At 13:00 CET yesterday, a BMW X5 belonging to one of the suspects arrested in Austria was found in Budapest. According to police spokesperson Agnes Beleznai, members of the criminal group used the car during the ill-fated trip to Veszprem. Hungarian national agency MTI, in the meantime, said an anonymous source had claimed that Sztojka had written a letter to his parents telling them of his intentions to give himself in to police.
